Little Anita’s

Little Anita’s

Little Anita’s Restaurant has several convenient locations in Albuquerque. They have great prices which won’t break the bank and portions that will fill your stomach. Click HERE for the entire review!

OVERALL BITES:

Value: Little Anita’s has several plates right around the $10 to $13 mark. They do have lunch specials, at least the Corrales location did, for $7 to $8. Friday you can get Fajitas for Two for only $18!!! These aren’t the lowest prices but they for sure won’t break the bank.

Taste: I had the steak tacos and wasn’t exactly sure what to expect but I have to tell you I was pleasantly surprised and I’ll be having them again!!!

Presentation: We all know how New Mexican cooking is presented. You load on the beans and rice and you plate the main entre to the side of them. Same here…nothing fancy but it didn’t look sloppy either. It looked…appealing!!!

Vibe: There wasn’t much going on that Saturday around 330pm. It was quiet and one server was running the dining area and he did a great job. There was a little background music and it was peaceful. This is a good place if you don’t want many distractions.

Accessibility: The Corrales location is super easy to find with plenty of parking. They are on the Northeast corner on Coors and Alameda. You may have noticed their main location just North of Old Town which is also easy to find with plenty of parking.

Review – Little Anita’s

Ok, let me first start by saying that I wasn’t working on this particular day. I know you guys get tired of hearing how much I work and how much I have to eat during lunch. On this particular Saturday I had finished a basketball game and I had a break before my next one. So I figured I would stay in the area and head over to Little Anita’s Restaurant. I arrived about 345 pm.

Before I continue, let me just say that Little Anita’s has many locations. The flagship location is by Old Town. In fact, they have grown to include 2 locations in Colorado as well. So they aren’t exactly local anymore but they did start in good old Albuquerque. Their growth is something to be proud about that’s for sure.

Once I entered I was seated quickly. There were only about 6 tables that were full and one server for the entire dining area but since it was slow he was doing a great job of taking care of everybody. He was responsive and polite too so I’m sure he would have done great with a much bigger crowd as well.

I love restaurants that give complimentary chips and salsa and that’s exactly what you get at Little Anita’s. The salsa is red and a little spicy but not the hot kind. It’s a little hard to explain. You know you’re eating it because it’s a little spicy but you just can’t stop. Although, I was able to finish it all.

After I downed most of my chips I placed my order for the steak tacos. Now, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. Would it be like Carne Asada or would it be like fajitas or what exactly was I going to get? The steak with cooked with red and green bell peppers, onion, and served with more red salsa, guac and a pico. The plate also included rice and beans with lettuce and tomato as garnish. I liked the fact that the tortillas for tacos were lightly fried in oil which helped so they didn’t soak up all juices from meat and fall apart. Although, I stuffed the pico, guac, lettuce into the taco so it burst open anyway. I definitely didn’t look like an experienced taco eater.

You all know I’m not shy when it comes to picking out the fatty pieces of gristle in my food. I’m happy to report that I didn’t have one chewy piece in my meat at all what so ever! In fact, the combination of peppers and onion, together with the steak, made for a great tasting taco! I was more than pleasantly surprised at the seasoning and tenderness of the meat. I’ll definitely be having these again on my next visit. The beans covered in cheese and tasted good and were salted well. The rice was nice and fluffy too. What stole the show was the meat fo the tacos though.

Finally, Little Anita’s gives you a sopapilla with your meal and there is honey is at the table so you can enjoy it as a desert. And it was good!

I’ve been to Little Anita’s Restaurant in the past and have always had good service but on this particular occasion they were better than good and the meal exceeded my expectations. Little Anita’s gets 5 Bites!!! I couldn’t find anything that would lower their score and I’m usually looking for something. Keep up the good work!!!
