Makoto Sushi – Danny’s Creations!

Makoto Sushi – Danny’s Creations!

After craving sushi for so long, I decided to take my mom on a lunch date to Makoto sushi. Some say this is the best sushi in El Paso and I don’t argue that! I also haven’t tried every sushi place in El Paso though. Let me tell you about this somewhat hidden gem in El Paso.

Overall Bites:

Value: I thought I paid a PRETTY PENNY for these rolls. They were bigger portion sized rolls than anything I’ve eaten before.

Taste: Goodness the taste was amazing! Better than any sushi roll I have ever had. The fish tasted fresh, nothing fried. It’s mouth watering. Just look at the pictures!

Presentation: So if you looked at the pictures then you know these were well presented! Not to mention the art that is created! They are almost too beautiful to eat!

Vibe: I always love the vibe from Makoto. Especially if you sit at the sushi bar! Danny, one of the chefs there, is such an awesome person to talk to!

Accessibility: Kind of easy to find. KIND OF. If I don’t tell you where its at, then you would probably never know it existed. (Unless you’ve been there of course)

So on a day off from work and my daughter, I decided to go to my mom’s hair salon, Do or Dye Hair Studio. I’m not sure why I went. I knew she was going to put me to work on something or other. I went nonetheless. It might have been around noon when I got there. I was super insanely hungry and craving sushi! I decided to invite my mom for some lunch. Sushi I said!

Makoto sushi. A somewhat hidden gem in El Paso. I wanted to review something different for my readers! I usually do tacos or burgers and decided it needed to be different! Now as you walk into Makoto you can sit wherever you’d like. If you’re feeling adventurous, sit at the bar! Otherwise sit at the table. I’ve sat at both, and this time I decided the bar was the perfect place. You sit at the bar and there’s an A La Carte menu. IGNORE the menu! Danny is going to ask if you’re allergic to anything. If you are please let him know. If not, then let your tastebuds be amazed! Now, I have no idea what was on or in these rolls, but they were legit! Absolutely mind blowing. I’m craving them as we speak. Danny will let you know what’s in them if you ask but I didn’t. I was waaaaay to busy stuffing my face.

The first roll was a bit spicy. This was my favorite from the two. This roll had crab in it for sure. As well as avocado, rice and shrimp. All these flavors mixed together to bring a beautiful sushi roll. I loved how beautiful it looked as well. The second roll was a bit smaller. I know it had cucumber and salmon on top. That is as far as my knowledge goes for that roll. This one had more of a sweet and citrus taste to it. I was glad the sweetness over powered the citrus. Not that I didn’t like the roll but I wasn’t digging the citrus part to it. So I give Makoto 4 Bites. The food was amazing. Not so much the prices, but I like to think of it as it is the quality you’re paying for. The reason that I give them 4 Bites is due to the weird hours of operation. Some days they’re closed. Some days only from 10-4, so you really have to catch them at a time they are there!
