Malolam – Do the Malo!

Malolam – Do the Malo!

It was Labor Day and I was craving something juicy! I instantly thought a Cuban Sandwich but when I called the nearest places to order, no one was open! I called about three places and no pick up. So I decided I just go pick something up. One of my fave spots…Malolam.

4935 N Mesa St #2, El Paso, TX 79912

Overall Bites:

Value: $12.99 for a Burger/Torta and some fries. The portion size was great for this price!

Taste: My goodness, it’s like I crossed over to juarez and had a street burger! So good!

Presentation: Well I’m not quite exactly sure how else you can present a burger and fries but I thought Malolam presented it well!

Vibe: I love the vibes in this place. It is very hipster-ish and I love the decor. Everyone is always
enjoying their time at Malo!

Accessibility: It is located in a plaza called Montecillo in the westside of El Paso. Very easy to find, although parking is limited. If you go there to have lunch, it shouldn’t be a problem BUT if you are going there to drink and dance, then you might want to carpool. They have valet service as well so if you can’t carpool, the valet is there!

Malolam. Funky name, right? I’ve tried looking up what if means but nothing comes up. Perhaps that is why it stuck! I’ve been to this place on various occasions. I absolutely always love coming here. The food, the service and the drinks are great! It’s a cantina with a mix of a Mexican cuisine. Every time I come, I always order something different. It makes everything more exciting and Malolam has never disappointed!

I got here around 2:30 for a late lunch and boy was I hungry! I had the Mexican burger. Homemade bun, mayonnaise, shredded iceberg lettuce along with tomatoes and two beef patties! As I bit into this burger, I felt as if I was at the festival in Juarez having a street burger except without the hotdog and ham (that was all an extra $1.75). The taste was legit. A delicious burger with fries on the side. The fries, oh, the fries I rarely talk about but this time it’s different. They were golden brown and had Malo salt. Whatever they put in that “Malo salt” is amazing. Had a tangy yet sort of spicy taste to it. I liked them, A LOT!

Although Malolam is one of my favorite spots, this time I cannot give them 5 Bites. The service was not the best. I walked in and I sat myself. I might have been lucky they saw me because if it wasn’t for that, I don’t know that I would have got my order taken. But they probably have that on check! I also didn’t know that when I ordered a glass of water, that would be the only glass I would have. My server didn’t refill my drink. In the whole 50 minutes I was there, there was one check up on me but no refill. For this Malolam gets 4 Bites. Although on this occasion the service wasn’t the best, it is a great place to come and enjoy food, drinks and company! Check it out for yourselves!
