Ay Cocula

Ay Cocula

Ay Cocula has great vibes and better food! You’ll enjoy their daily shows as much as the decor and the food when you’re here! Click HERE for the entire review!

1435 N Lee Trevino Dr. El Paso, Texas 79936

OVERALL BITES:

Value: Personally I thought they were a bit pricy for what I got. 4 pastor tacos for $9? The times I’ve gone it’s with family and we get a parrillada which is about $30 for 4-6 people which comes out being the same. You do get a baked potato and queso fundido with it though!

Taste: I decided to try Al Pastor tonight. Not that they weren’t good but I should have just stuck with beef.

Presentation: The tacos were presented well with its condiments and to keep the plate from being too greasy, they placed a napkin under the tacos to absorb all the grease.

Vibe: I love the vibes at here. I have never been to Ay Cocula when the vibes aren’t good. They have something almost every night! Today was karaoke night. For a video of me singing click here.

Accessibility: On the corner of Lee Trevino and Pellicano it is fairly easy to find. Parking is also good when it isn’t packed but there is usually a parking lot attendant.

Review – Ay Cocula

It was a very long day at work today and I actually forgot to eat. Like, HOW in the world does that happen? Any who, since that happened I decided to leave work and hour early. I went for my little girl and realized I hadn’t had anything to eat besides 2 strawberries and a piece of pineapple. Healthy, huh?

I searched for a local restaurant and I realized I had already reviewed the places I wanted to eat around my mom’s casa so I decided to drive towards my place. On the way I thought I wanted pizza then I saw Ay Cocula. I arrived around 7 and was surprised it wasn’t as busy as I thought.

As soon as we walked in I was seated immediately because I got to choose where to sit our server came to us instantly. One Agua de Jamaica and complimentary chips and salsas that I barely touched. Once she took my order it took her maybe 10 minutes to come out with my tacos and my tres leches cake. The cake was my daughter’s because I just feed her cake for dinner. I’m kidding!

The Tacos

The presentation was good. I liked the taste of the tacos but just didn’t like how greasy they were. One actually fell apart because of it. Other than that the taste and the freshness of the condiments went well together. The salsas I received were delicious as well but I preferred the darker one. When I was done with the tacos, I had a bite of the tres leches cake. It was a bit dry for the way I like my tres leches cake but good nonetheless.

All in all Ay Cocula gets 4 Bites from me! Check them out here and on Facebook.
