Jimmy’s Cafe

Jimmy’s Cafe

Jimmy’s Cafe offers you classic New Mexican dishes, a wide range of breakfast items, some of the tastiest green chile, and a tangy lemonade! All of their menu options are very reasonable and you’ll also find a daily special. Not only that, you’ll find pictures of Jimmy all along the walls. Click HERE for the entire review.

OVERALL BITES:

Value: Jimmy’s Cafe has several dishes starting for under $10. I had the special which included a taco, a cheese enchilada and a chile relleno for just under $9. By the time I finished my plate I was pretty full but not to the point where I was bursting.

Taste: It’s all about the taste at LocalBite and Jimmy’s Cafe always delivers. Their food is seasoned well and the green chile always stands out.

Presentation: Their sandwiches are always presented very well. Their New Mexican dishes aren’t anything fancy. Just good cooking here!

Vibe: Jimmy’s Cafe is only open until 2:30 on weekdays and 2 on weekends but when they are open they are busy! Tables are pretty close together but nobody seems to mind because they’re enjoying the wall decor and the food too.

Accessibility: Not too hard to find. From the Interstate go West on Osuna then North on Jefferson. You’ll find them on the West side. The parking lot can get pretty full during the lunch rush as their are other businesses there too.

Review – Jimmy’s Cafe

Oh, Jimmy, how I’ve missed you! It had been a while since I’ve visited Jimmy’s Cafe but last week I was in the area and I couldn’t resist. The thought of great service and great food made it an easy choice.

You’re greeted as soon as you walk in and you’re navigated through the dining room that is packed with 2 top tables and chairs. Once you sit down you notice the walls filled with the likes of Jim Carrey, Edward James Olmos, Jimmie Johnson, Jim abbot, Jimmy Kimmel, James Bond, and many more. Yes, it’s obvious this is Jimmy’s Cafe and there is something cool about the way all the Jim’s are on the wall.

My drink order was taken immediately and for me it’s a no brainer. The lemonade. It’s exactly what you think a lemonade should be. Tangy and cold because the big cup is filled with ice. It’s exactly what you picture a lemonade to be on a hot summer day as you sit on a porch enjoying the afternoon. A couple of sips assured me that I had made the right choice.

Deciding on lunch was a little more complicated. Jimmy’s Cafe has quite a few breakfast and lunch choices. I decided for the lunch special. The combination plate included a taco, a cheese corn tortilla enchilada and a chile relleno. You had your choice of red, green or Christmas (which is New Mexican for both red and green). The taco was mostly beef and it had hard shell. The enchilada was very cheesy and the relleno…whoa!!! Spicy! It was breaded a little on the thicker side but it was full of flavor. If I’m being honest, I had to take a few sips of my lemonade in between some bites of the relleno because it was, like I said earlier, spicy.

As I was enjoying my lunch I overheard the neighboring table talk about how spicy their food was but they loved it. One gentlemen made comments about him thinking the chicken green Chile soup was the best in town. I haven’t had the pleasure of trying the soup myself but if you look on the right, as soon as you walk in, you’ll see a number of awards.  You know the locals love Jimmy’s!

Jimmy’s gets 4.5 Bites!!! You know, I really can’t find much fault in anything that Jimmy’s does. They have great service, great food and great prices. The only drawback is that JImmy’s closes at 2:30pm and every now and then you’d like to enjoy them after that. Sigh.

Check out their Website and give them a like on Facebook.
