Kahlo Kitchen- Viva Frida!!

Kahlo Kitchen- Viva Frida!!

12420 Edgemere Blvd. Ste. 101

Overall Bites:

Value: I got a burger and its name was ‘The Border’ which was a great size for $10.99. Details in review!

Taste: It was perfect for me. I was able to taste every ingredient in the burger. The tomato was salted perfectly as well as the avocado. The bacon was thick and juicy and the green chile added that perfect kick to it.

Presentation: Presentation was nice, clean, and appetizing. I had been there before and the plates were decorated and written on but after time they faded away. Seems like a good sign though, it means they really do scrub and wash their plates right?

Vibe: I love the vibe in this place, I love the murals, I love Frida Kahlo. It’s also family owned and you can tell that this family loves working together at this.

Accessibility: This place is easy to get to. It’s located on a main street so you will have NO trouble finding it. They also have this super cute Frida Kahlo logo as their sign!

Kahlo Kitchen. I was super excited to deliver this review for you guys! Frida Kahlo is one of my favorite artists/painters and this past week was her birthday. I just absolutely love how different types of artists incorporate her in their work. BUT we aren’t here to talk about Frida, we are here to talk about Kahlo Kitchen. These guys do a lot of things right, and it’s just a super cute, hipster place to grab lunch, dinner or some ‘antojitos’ (mexican snacks). Like they say, A New Mexican Classic.

Before anything, we had ‘Papas Locas’ (kettle chips in Valentina salsa) and they were good although there isn’t really a way you can mess up Papas Locas. My partner had the ‘Viva Frida’ and I just had to take a bite out of it. Personally it was missing ‘something.’ We could NOT put our finger on what it was but hopefully you can go and try it and leave comments on what you think is missing! The burger I had was ‘The Border’ and it was giant! In their description it said “Our whole culture between two buns…” and like I’ve said I love getting the best of both worlds. If you see the pictures you can see how big this burger was. It was literally tipping over, but I think that could have maybe been the amount of lettuce that was in there. To those who caramelize their onions when served in a burger, BIG kudos to you. I cannot stand raw onions in any way. It also included sliced hotdogs and cooked ham and the saltiness of that went well with all the veggies, especially the tomato and avocado. For my side, I went with the sweet potato fries, (we have to watch those carbs, you know). Also, I don’t think I’ll be the first to admit that it was a messy burger but delicious nonetheless. That is the only reason Kahlo Kitchen get 4.5 Bites from me, I didn’t know how to keep it non-messy and from tipping over. Again, don’t take my word for it and try them out! I recommend this place all the time, good food, great vibes and nothing better than to support local!
