Rainbow Fountain – Pot of Gold!

Rainbow Fountain – Pot of Gold!

Super hot day. Super hungry woman. It called for some good food at a good price. Rainbow Fountain was the closest and local. As always, supporting local! Scroll down for a review on their torta!

Overall Bites:

Value: The value of this meal was super economic. I asked for a torta de colita de pavo, fries and a limonada. I thought it was a really good deal.

Taste: Well a lot of people tell me this place is amazing. Personally I thought it was ok. Not the way people described it to me though.

Presentation: I took the meal to go but I was happy to see that my fries didn’t spill anywhere and my torta was tightly wrapped in the wax paper and didn’t flop anywhere.

Vibe: Rainbow Fountain seems like it is a family owned restaurant. These guys are always smiling and look like they’re having a good time. Even when you walk up to order the guy taking it is super happy and kids around with you a bit.

Accessibility: Getting to Rainbow Fountain is super easy. It is a bit hidden but easy to find. If you’re traveling south on Loop 375, you’ll want to get off on Americas Ave. You’ll see a Whataburger and beside it is where you’ll find this pot of gold. They also have two locations!

I can’t remember what day in the week it was but I was starving and went to lunch (yes, I do have a day job). I didn’t want to go anywhere far because that would just take away from it so I decided to walk about 2 minutes. When I walked in I noticed it was quite busy. There was a bit of a line but it wasn’t anything crazy and the person who was taking the order was knocking them out quickly. It was my turn after about 4 customers and I still didn’t know what to order. I went with what I knew was good from previously (two years ago). A colita de pavo torta! A Mexican sandwich. It had to be good right? I mean, what authentic Mexican food isn’t good?

This torta had shredded lettuce, mayo, tomatoes and the turkey tail. OH! And avocado! Everyone at work was hyping about it. Now, if I’m being honest, I’ve had better from my daughters grandpa. I didn’t understand the hype. It isn’t to say it wasn’t good, but it wasn’t great. The fries weren’t much to talk about either but they were better than Wing Daddy’s fries, if you’ve ever had Wing Daddy’s. The Lemonade was a tricky one for me. It was more of a slushy than it was a drink. I wasn’t too fond of it but at the same time, I was glad they had given it to me that way because it was a very hot day.

So this is why Rainbow Fountain recieves 4 Bites from me. Their food was good. Their service was good. As well as their vibes but it just didn’t stand out for me. Make sure you try them for yourselves! Like I said, their food IS GOOD!
Ciao for now!
