Flautilocas – Uh, crazy flautas? Why not!

Flautilocas – Uh, crazy flautas? Why not!

Overall Bites:

Value: $5 for a flat plate that came with beans, rice and the flautas. THIS is the place to be!

Taste: The taste was good, not excellent but good! The flautas had enough shredded beef and everything was salted great.

Presentation: I took the plate to go, so I can’t really say whether or not it was plated correctly. I will tell you this though, don’t take it to go.

Vibe: I went in the evening. Perhaps maybe around a quarter to 8. They were about to close so I couldn’t catch much of the vibe, although, I did love craziness of the decor.

Accessibility: Not super hard to find. In a shopping center off the corner of Chelsea and Montana.

It was a thursday and practice for my three year old’s T-Ball was cancelled. We decided on showing her how to catch and hit a ball ourselves but didn’t get very far! However, it was super cloudy and about to rain and I was craving any type of comfort food! I didn’t know what I wanted (you know how some women can be) but I knew I was hungry. We decided to check this place out. Flautilocas! Crazy flautas? Why the hell not, right?

So, I pull on the door and it was locked! Thankfully one of the guys that work there said, “Es solo para llevar.” Meaning ‘it’s only take out.’ I was hungry and wasn’t about to argue! As I walked in, there is so much going on at this place and its walls – it was awesome (well if you’re into that kind of thing). I will say they took our order promptly but that could have been due to the fact that it was closing time and we were the only customers there.

I ordered a plate of 4 flats, rice, and beans. The taste was good, salted perfectly and the flats had enough shredded beef. I also had an ‘Agua de Jamaica’ and it was just the perfect amount of sweetness. Presentation wasn’t all that great, might have been due to me taking it to go but that certainly didn’t keep me from chowing this plate down!

I give Flautilocas 3 Bites. I love crazy decor at a restaurant, but this place seemed a bit dirty, messy and looked run down, hence the 3 Bites. Everything else was good . Again this doesn’t take away from the food being delicious and a great price. This was my experience, guys! Try them out for yourselves on a gloomy day, or just any other day! Ciao for now!

BTW, don’t hate me for the no pic on the food. When I remembered to take it I was already 4 flautas in! (They have pics on their Facebook).
